Our client, South Coast British Columbia Transportation Authority (TransLink) is seeking a Legal Counsel to join its exceptional and robust team of lawyers.

Reporting up to Senior Manager, Legal Services, the Legal Counsel provides legal advice, opinions, options and recommendations to the organization on a broad range of legal issues, including corporate/commercial, contracts, real estate, policing, criminal, human rights, statutory interpretation, environmental, freedom of information, and First Nations matters.
The Legal Counsel also assists senior legal staff on elements of tasks and projects involving larger scope, and higher risk and sensitivity and participates in development of legal compliance programs, corporate policies, standards, and guidelines related to moderately complex legal issues to mitigate risk.
The ideal candidate will be a solicitor with five or more years (including 1 year of articling, so 2021 call or more senior) of relevant top-tier experience advising comparably complex institutions on commercial agreements. Technology or privacy law experience will be an asset, though not necessary. They will have demonstrable analytical skills to resolve multifaceted problems, develop practical and creative solutions, and objectively evaluate options to weigh out risks and benefits.

The salary bandwidth for this role is $124,888 to $187,332 and actual salary offered will be commensurate with education, experience and internal parity.
