Known for her thoughtful approach and ability to understand both people and organizational needs, Joanne helps legal teams build long-lasting success—starting with the right talent and continuing through retention.
Joanne graduated from the Sauder School of Business at the University of British Columbia with a Bachelor of Commerce specializing in Human Resources Management. Over the last five years, she has developed deep expertise in permanent recruitment—first establishing her career in the competitive Vancouver legal market with a large global recruitment firm, and now leading the expansion of Smith Legal Search’s footprint across Ontario.
Her specialty lies in legal support recruitment, including Legal Administrative Assistants, Law Clerks, and Paralegals, while also supporting Associate-level searches for both private practice and in-house teams. Having worked across two major legal markets, Joanne brings a nuanced understanding of how teams operate—and what they need to not only attract top talent but retain it.
Outside of work, Joanne can usually be found exploring new restaurants and cafés, planning her next trip, or spending quality time with her husband and their Aussiedoodle. She loves discovering new neighbourhoods and hidden gems.
