General Fusion is a global leader in the race to commercialize clean fusion energy and is entering a pivotal phase in the race to commercialize fusion. Founded in 2002 and backed by a global syndicate of leading energy, technology, and industrial investors, the company has spent more than two decades developing a uniquely practical approach to fusion through Magnetized Target Fusion. Operating out of its state-of-the-art facilities in Richmond, British Columbia, General Fusion is now achieving major technical and commercialization milestones that will define the next stage of its growth.

To support this transition, General Fusion is seeking its first General Counsel and Corporate Secretary to lead the legal function. This newly created role is a key member of the senior leadership team and reports directly to the SVP, Finance. The General Counsel will serve as the company’s primary legal, regulatory, and governance advisor, playing a central role in both day-to-day operations and high impact strategic initiatives. The scope of the role is broad and senior, encompassing corporate governance and Corporate Secretary responsibilities, board and shareholder matters, commercial contracting and negotiations, regulatory and compliance oversight including nuclear sector considerations, enterprise risk management, litigation strategy, and the management of external counsel.

The role will also support equity raises, commercialization initiatives, compliance and disclosure governance, and will work closely with internal stakeholders, including People and Culture, on employment law and policy matters. As the company grows, this individual will have the opportunity to build and scale the legal function over time.

General Fusion offers a hybrid work model of three days in office out of their Richmond, BC office, along with a very competitive compensation package that includes a pre IPO equity option grant.
