Legal Assistant, Litigation

A busy, well-established national litigation firm is seeking a full-time Legal Assistant to join its busy employment law practice. This role supports a fast-paced litigation team and is well suited for someone who enjoys being hands-on with files and working closely with legal representatives.

The position is available on a fully remote, hybrid, or in-office basis.

The Role

You will provide day-to-day administrative and support on civil matters, primarily within employment law. This includes managing deadlines, preparing and filing court materials, and coordinating litigation-related scheduling.

Key Responsibilities

  • Preparing, proofreading, compiling, filing, and serving court documents
  • Managing filing and service deadlines
  • Scheduling mediations, examinations, pre-trials, and etc.
  • Editing and preparing correspondence for lawyers
  • Coordinating calls and meetings
  • Maintaining organized electronic and physical files
  • Assisting with administrative tasks including billing, trust transactions, and general file management
  • Providing coverage during vacation, sick time, or absences as needed

Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years of experience as a legal assistant in civil litigation, employment law experience preferred
  • Familiarity with the Rules of Civil Procedure, Ontario Superior Court, and Small Claims Court
  • Plaintiff-side litigation experience is preferred
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and meet urgent deadlines
  • Comfortable working independently and collaboratively
  • Proactive, adaptable, and eager to learn
