Legal Counsel – Vancity

Vancity is Canada’s largest community credit union — a member-owned financial cooperative with over $41 billion in assets,
more than 2,300 employees, and an 80-year legacy of challenging the status quo in financial services. Named one of the World’s
Best Banks by Forbes for the fifth time, a Top 100 Employer in Canada for the fourth consecutive year, and the largest private-
sector Living Wage Employer in the country, Vancity is in the midst of a defining chapter — delivering record financial
performance under its “Vancity 2.0” vision while investing ambitiously in technology, member experience, and community impact.

Vancity is seeking a Legal Counsel to join its in-house legal team at a moment of genuine momentum. Reporting to the General
Counsel (and through them to Chief Legal Officer Angela Yadav), you will partner directly with business and operational leaders
to deliver strategic, solutions-oriented legal advice across a dynamic range of practice areas.
You will advise on strategic procurement and IT contract negotiation, marketing and sponsorships, privacy, AI and data
governance, litigation support, retail and commercial products and services (including retail lending), branch operations, and
labour and employment matters. You will research, negotiate, draft, and review agreements ranging from member-facing terms to
complex vendor contracts, and provide clear guidance that helps decision-makers understand risk at both the business unit and
enterprise level.

You are a lawyer called to the bar in British Columbia with 4 to 8 years of relevant experience in private practice, in-house, or
both. You bring a strong commercial law foundation, experience or genuine interest in financial services, and are drawn to the
breadth of a generalist in-house role. You build trusted relationships, communicate complex concepts in clear terms, and
approach problems with intellectual curiosity and a solutions-first mindset. Experience in retail lending, labour and employment,
or litigation is a meaningful asset. Vancity values lived experience and diverse perspectives. You are encouraged to apply even if your background does not align
perfectly with every requirement.

The salary for this opportunity is between $125,000 to $161,700 per annum, plus eligibility for Vancity’s annual incentive program. Total rewards include health and
dental benefits from day one, a defined benefit pension, four weeks vacation to start, 13 statutory holidays, and dedicated care days.
