You know your way around a litigation file. Now find a team that recognizes it.
Our client, a well-established litigation and labour & employment firm in downtown Vancouver, is seeking an experienced Legal Assistant to join its collaborative team. The firm handles meaningful, high-stakes work for employers and businesses, from workplace disputes to complex civil claims. It offers a culture where support professionals are trusted, respected and part of how files get won.
This role suits someone who can take a file from pleadings or complaint through hearing or trial, spots deadlines before anyone has to ask, and enjoys working in a team where everyone pulls together. You’ll work closely with your lawyers as a true partner on their files, not just someone taking instructions.

- Book chambers applications, long chambers, registrar’s hearings, mediations, arbitrations and examinations for discovery
- Prepare application records, books of authorities, and hearing, trial and appeal materials
- Review incoming documents, calculate the deadlines they trigger, and diarize them proactively
- Maintain an accurate bring-forward system for limitation dates, hearing dates and key deadlines
- Coordinate document productions and lists of documents, and support e-discovery workflows
- Conduct corporate registry and land title searches
- Manage the billing cycle, including reviewing WIP, preparing pre-bills and finalizing accounts
- Support and mentor junior support staff, and help the wider team meet deadlines when needed
What We’re Looking For
- 3–5 years of experience as a legal assistant in civil litigation and/or labour & employment law
- Strong command of the BC Supreme Court Civil Rules and litigation procedure
- Familiarity with labour arbitration and administrative tribunal processes is a strong asset
- Hands-on experience with CSO filings, chambers bookings, and hearing and trial preparation
- Proven ability to manage deadlines independently and anticipate next steps on a file
- Proficiency with document management, e-filing, e-discovery and legal billing platforms
- Polished written communication and strong attention to detail
- Mandarin or another second language is an asset
