A busy, well-established national litigation firm is seeking a full-time Legal Assistant to join its busy employment law practice. This role supports a fast-paced litigation team and is well suited for someone who enjoys being hands-on with files and working closely with legal representatives.
The position is available on a fully remote, hybrid, or in-office basis.
The Role
You will provide day-to-day administrative and support on civil matters, primarily within employment law. This includes managing deadlines, preparing and filing court materials, and coordinating litigation-related scheduling.
Key Responsibilities
- Preparing, proofreading, compiling, filing, and serving court documents
- Managing filing and service deadlines
- Scheduling mediations, examinations, pre-trials, and etc.
- Editing and preparing correspondence for lawyers
- Coordinating calls and meetings
- Maintaining organized electronic and physical files
- Assisting with administrative tasks including billing, trust transactions, and general file management
- Providing coverage during vacation, sick time, or absences as needed
Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of experience as a legal assistant in civil litigation, employment law experience preferred
- Familiarity with the Rules of Civil Procedure, Ontario Superior Court, and Small Claims Court
- Plaintiff-side litigation experience is preferred
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to manage competing priorities and meet urgent deadlines
- Comfortable working independently and collaboratively
- Proactive, adaptable, and eager to learn
