A well-established, leading regional mid-size law firm is seeking an experienced Real Estate Legal Assistant with strong commercial lending expertise. Salary: $45,000 – $85,000
Key Responsibilities:
- Support commercial real estate and lending transactions from opening to funding
- Review bank commitment letters and identify terms for document preparation and funding requirements
- Conduct title searches; review Parcel Registers and instruments to identify encumbrances and title issues for lawyer review
- Prepare and register all Teraview documentation with a thorough understanding of the system and registration requirements
- Prepare electronic registration documentation and security documents for commercial lending transactions
- Draft correspondence and reporting letters relating to commercial real estate financings
- Manage title insurance matters, including experience with First Canadian Title
- Conduct and organize due diligence materials
- Maintain accurate file administration, billing support, and accounting procedures
Qualifications:
- 5+ years of experience in commercial real estate and lending
- Strong working knowledge of title searches, instruments, and registration processes
- Advanced proficiency with Teraview
- Solid understanding of title insurance
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
- Strong knowledge of accounting and billing procedures
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to multi-task and manage deadlines
- Strong communication skills and a collaborative, team-oriented approach
- High level of attention to detail and strict confidentiality
- Legal Assistant or Law Clerk diploma considered an asset
